Record a track

When you go hiking or do any activity, you can record your trail using your device's GPS.

  • By following an existing trail in Trailence
  • By creating a new track without following a trail

Follow a trail

To follow a trail you already have in Trailence, open that trail's page and use the "Start this track" menu option.
The followed trail will be shown in red, while your current recording will appear in blue.
Information such as distance, elevation gained, remaining time, remaining elevation, etc. will be displayed as you progress along the trail.

Create a new track

To record a track without following an existing trail, use the "Start a trace" menu option.

Change the followed trail during recording

Whether you started recording while following a trail or not, you can always change the followed trail during the recording:

  • Open the page of the trail you want to follow
  • On the map, use the top menu button/menu "Follow this trail"

Prepare your trail in advance

Before starting a recording:

  • Consider downloading the map for offline use: you may not always have network coverage, and this will also let you switch off data during your trail, saving battery (and letting you fully enjoy your activity...).
  • You can use the "Go to departure" menu to open a navigation app (like Google Maps or Waze) that will guide you to the starting point.
